CHECKINAGE GUIDE

Can you book a hotel at 18?

Reservation and check-in are separate decisions. Learn what an 18-year-old must verify before paying.

Booking is not the same as checking in

A reservation website may accept an adult guest name or payment even when the exact property requires the arriving guest to be 21. The property-specific check-in rule is the fact that matters at the front desk.

Use your age on arrival

If your birthday is before the trip, compare the policy with the age you will be on the check-in date. Do not rely on your age when you make the reservation.

Check the exact property

Hotels in the same chain and city can publish different minimum ages. Match the full hotel name and street address, then read the linked official source.

Verify the remaining requirements

An age match does not prove that debit cards, third-party cards or cash are accepted. Ask what photo ID, cardholder name and deposit or authorization are required.

Use the current property source

Directory guidance cannot approve a guest or replace a hotel’s current terms. Match the exact property and confirm unresolved requirements before paying.
