IHG’s notice to hotels, as published by LoyaltyLobby, says in part: “From June 19, 2026, IHG Hotels & Resorts will standardize the minimum check-in age to be 18 years old globally … at least one guest in each party must be at least 18 years old upon arrival at the hotel. This is mandatory and will be implemented centrally across IHG booking channels.” The date in that notice is 19 June 2026. CheckInAge did not find a public ihg.com press page for the change.
LoyaltyLobby is the source of that quotation. View from the Wing and InsideFlyer also reported the change. Those articles are not a substitute for the page of the hotel you will check into.
Where an official ihg.com hotel page still shows 21, use that page unless the hotel confirms a different age for your stay in writing.
CheckInAge’s reviewed sample has 65 hotels whose official source is an ihg.com page. 35 list 18 or lower and 30 list 21 or older. Review dates in this sample: 61 reviewed 3 October 2026; 4 reviewed 20 October 2026. These counts describe this directory, not every IHG hotel.
