Short answer: the check-in age is set by the hotel
Every citizenM hotel in this directory (15) lists a minimum check-in age of 18. 12 of those records use the hotel information line “Minimum Age to Check In 18” or the same line with a colon. The age is set per property, so check the exact hotel.
citizenM Seattle Pioneer Square, citizenM Seattle South Lake and citizenM Washington DC Capitol list 18 in a directory summary rather than that exact line. Open the hotel page.
Not every property page lists an age. citizenM Washington DC Georgetown is not in this directory. Its Marriott page, checked on 25 October 2026, shows check-in and check-out times and no minimum-age line. Ask the hotel when a page does not list an age.
A listed age is not a room, and a reservation is not proof that the arriving guest meets the rule. Open the exact hotel’s page before you pay.
11 citizenM hotels in this directory have a recorded check-in of 14:00 and check-out of 11:00. That is 2:00 pm and 11:00 am. Those records are on the citizenM check-in times page.
On 25 October 2026 the Marriott overview pages for citizenM New York Times Square, citizenM New York Bowery, citizenM Miami South Beach and citizenM Chicago Downtown showed “Check-in: 2:00 pm” and “Check-out: 11:00 am”.
citizenM New York Times Square, citizenM New York Bowery and citizenM Miami South Beach are not on the check-in times comparison yet. Use the property page for those hotels, not another citizenM hotel’s row.
No check-in time is recorded for citizenM Miami Worldcenter. This guide does not assign one. Ask the hotel.
The same day’s reading of citizenM Washington DC Georgetown showed check-in and check-out times. That hotel is not in this directory, so it has no row below.
The citizenM brand FAQ describes arrival this way: “Guests use the kiosks at the self-check-in area. Your time is precious, so it takes just 60 seconds to check in and 30 seconds to check out at our touch-screen terminals. Need help? Our friendly Ambassadors are always nearby.”
A kiosk does not replace the age rule. If the page does not list a time, ask that hotel. Do not copy 2:00 pm from another citizenM address.
Early check-in is possible only when a room is free
These sentences are citizenM’s own reservation terms, last updated on 31 March 2025, from before bookings moved to Marriott.com. They may have been superseded. Section 4, “Check-in (rooms)”, says: “Rooms: from 2pm on. If a room is available for early check-in, you can check in early. Depending on the hotel an early check-in fee may apply payable at the time of check-in.”
The early check-in sentence on its own: “If a room is available for early check-in, you can check in early. Depending on the hotel an early check-in fee may apply payable at the time of check-in.” The terms do not give a fee amount, and they do not promise that a room will be free. Ask the exact hotel. Do not budget a number this page does not have.
Section 5, “Check-out”, says: “Rooms: no later than 11.00 AM. If you have not checked-out by 11.00 AM, a late check-out fee may be charged to your credit card on file. If you have not checked-out by 4.00 PM we may charge an extra night.” It also says: “We can store your luggage on the day of your check-out.”
Section 6, “Late check-out”, says: “Depending on the hotel late check-out may be possible against payment of an additional fee.” That sentence does not state the fee. Marriott Bonvoy elite early check-in or late check-out benefits are not covered by these sources, so this guide does not describe them.
The New York rooftop bars are 21+, even when check-in is 18
A room minimum of 18 does not admit every guest to the hotel bar. On the citizenM New York Times Square page, cloudM rooftop bar says “All 21+ are welcome”. On the citizenM New York Bowery page, cloudM says “Open to all 21+”.
Ask the hotel about any other bar, restaurant or event. This guide only has those two sentences.
Guests under 18, and how many people can share a room
This is also from citizenM’s terms dated 31 March 2025, before bookings moved to Marriott.com. Section 10, “Age”, says: “If you are under age 18 and you are not accompanied by someone of age 18 or older we reserve the right to evict you from our hotel.”
Section 8 says: “Maximum capacity of total guests in a room is 2. Only a child of age 10 or under can be an exception to this policy.”
Those terms may have been superseded. The minimum ages in the table do not repeat this occupancy rule. Ask the exact hotel who may stay, and do not treat a parent’s payment as permission for a guest under 18 to arrive alone.
citizenm.com now redirects to the citizenM page on Marriott.com. The brand FAQ says: “The citizenM app and website are no longer available as of December 2025.”
The same FAQ says: “Members earn 10 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 USD and 1 Elite Night Credit per qualifying night.” It also says: “A past citizenM stay can be counted towards Marriott Bonvoy points ONLY IF the stay took place after the citizenM hotel joined the Marriott website (this could be 28 October 2025 or later).”
A Bonvoy account or a points booking does not change the hotel’s check-in age. Confirm the age on the property page.
Ask the exact hotel these questions and keep the answers with the reservation.
Match the full hotel name and street address. citizenM New York Times Square and citizenM New York Bowery are different hotels.
Read “Minimum Age to Check In” on that hotel’s Marriott page. If the line is missing, ask the hotel. Do not copy 18 from another citizenM.
Check the check-in and check-out times on that same page. The pages read for this guide show 2:00 pm and 11:00 am. Early check-in depends on a free room and may cost a fee. The terms do not state the amount.
If you want the Times Square or Bowery rooftop bar, ask about the 21+ rule separately from the room.
If anyone is under 18, ask whether they may stay and how many people the room allows. The 31 March 2025 terms limit a room to 2 guests, with an exception for a child aged 10 or under.
Photo ID, debit cards and deposit amounts are not stated on the official pages, so ask the hotel.
Book on Marriott.com. The citizenM app and website are no longer available as of December 2025.
Save the written answer and the cancellation deadline together.
This was webpage and directory research on 25 October 2026, not a phone call, a stay or a booking. The ages in the table come from this directory. Are citizenM rooftop bars open to 18-year-olds?

Can someone under 18 stay at citizenM?
citizenM’s 31 March 2025 terms say: “If you are under age 18 and you are not accompanied by someone of age 18 or older we reserve the right to evict you from our hotel.” They also say: “Maximum capacity of total guests in a room is 2. Only a child of age 10 or under can be an exception to this policy.” Those terms predate Marriott.com bookings and may have been superseded. Ask the hotel. Does the citizenM app still work?
No. The brand FAQ says: “The citizenM app and website are no longer available as of December 2025.” Book on Marriott.com. Members earn 10 Marriott Bonvoy points per $1 USD on a qualifying stay. The app’s disappearance does not change the hotel’s check-in age.
