A five-minute check can save a difficult arrival.

Use this checklist to ask the exact property about your trip.

1. Give your age on the check-in date

   Tell the hotel whether you will be checking in independently. Ask about any special restrictions for your dates.

2. Ask what ID is accepted

   Confirm the required document and whether the booking name must match it.

3. Check the cardholder rule

   If someone else is paying, ask whether their card or written authorization must be presented. Ask whether your intended payment method is accepted for both the stay and the deposit.

4. Confirm the hold or deposit

   Ask for the amount, how it is collected and the expected release timing. Do not assume the room price includes this hold.

5. Keep the confirmation

   Ask the property to confirm the age rule in writing and keep it with your booking. Read the cancellation terms before making a payment.
